"When healthcare workers are at risk, we're all at risk", said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of WHO, while talking about the global shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits. PPE kits are most important in preventing the transmission of the Coronavirus to our healthcare workers.
India needs more than 2 crores PPE kits and with the number of active cases doubling every other day, the shortage is only going to increase. Each PPE Kit is meant for one-time use and healthcare workers need at least 2-3 per day. Many governments and private hospitals in high-intensity states are running out of supply.
Not only are our healthcare workers without a regular supply of PPE kits they are even resuing masks and rationing the usage of hand sanitisers.
To keep our bravehearts safe and prevent our healthcare services from crippling, GiveIndia launches Mission: Help COVID's Healthcare Heroes. This mission aims to protect our daily heroes, the doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers with safety kits and PPE kits. The kits will include masks, surgical/medical gloves, gowns, medical aprons, disposable goggles, hand washing liquid soap bottles, face-shield, hand towels etc.
